Here’s a reminder that you don’t need to look like anyone but yourself to look pretty.
Everyone has their own confidence levels and why I want yours to be above the meter. I understand sometimes it can be difficult.
Looking pretty hasn’t always been something I felt achievable. But, now it is and I want to share what I do to ‘look pretty.’
‘Pretty girl,’ ‘Pretty cousin,’ ‘Beautiful,’ and ‘Princess’ are some of the cute nicknames family and friends would call me when I was a child.
Ironically, all of that slipped my mind when I grew into my adolescent years and was drowned by assumptions that were completely opposite.
Luckily, with time I was able to build up confidence and present myself in a way where I feel pretty ALL, well… Most of the time.
I’ve always been into aesthetics and beauty. One of my aunts is a cosmetologist so I always admired her skill to finesse a hairstyle. Later that interest inspired me to become one myself.
Eventually, my beauty interests broaden beyond hair and I began to build curiosity in makeup. Not to mention I had a great sense of fashion.
One of my favorite things to do is get dressed. I don’t even have to go anywhere but the whole concept of putting things together is fun and I love how pretty I look in the end.
This is a real confidence booster for me.
Naturally, I have a great coordinating eye which is why I am so into aesthetics.
Since my blog is about inspiring you to feel beautiful. Allow me to share some of my favorite things I like to do to ‘look pretty.’
Look Pretty and Clean-up
Before I even touch anything I always clean up my space. When I get into this kind of ‘look pretty’ process it sometimes results in things being misplaced.
Cleaning helps save time at the end of the night and gives me peace of mind that I can later find my things.
Stay Pretty by Prepping Skin
In this current stage in my life, I opt to avoid makeup. On the occasions, I do I wear very little. I try to allow my skin to breathe and make sure it stays fresh.
The first thing I like to do to look pretty is having a great skincare routine. You can view my current one here. I recommend having a cleanser suitable to your skin type, an exfoliant, and a face mask for deep cleansing.
Tip: Remember to exfoliate at least 1x a week and after shaving/waxing or any kind of hair removal process.
Always Moisturize!
Look Pretty then Set the Tone
I enjoy listening to music while getting ready because it enters the soul and can change your attitude. Getting pretty while in a pretty good mood = pretty good results!
Tip: Remember to pamper yourself frequently with spa days, gifts, and simple ‘me-time.’
What you allow in your space can easily distract or add to what you have going on. Try to keep positive company: people or entertainment.
Be Pretty and Pick an Outfit
This all depends on your destination, style, and mood. Personally, I have several styles. Currently, my favorite fashion is the tom-boy/seductive look.
I’m extremely ‘girly’ so this is the perfect way to combine my feminine style with comfort. Not to mention is a great way to flaunt my figure.
You’re Pretty now Lay that Hair
Your face is often the first thing people notice about you. I’d like to argue that hair is the most important part of the ‘look pretty’ process.
Personally, my beauty is at its ‘peak’ when my hair is out of my face. This is due to my facial features.
I have a square jawline and a small face with small features. Things like hair can easily be a distraction to my master that is my face.
You can view this to read about face shapes and hairstyles that fit them.
At the end of the day, do what you want and be confident in it.
Take Pictures, you look good!
You can take a selfie, have a photoshoot with yourself or friends. Post them on social media or don’t! Maybe, print them out and make a scrapbook of your fine self!
What are some of your favorite things to do to look pretty?
